A New York artist named Glenn Ligon put up for auction his painting, which from a distance looks like just a white blank canvas.
However, the artist is convinced that he will sell it for at least $3.5 million as early as next week.
Although it looks like a blank canvas, there is much more to it than meets the eye.
If we get closer to the painting, we can see the text.
The artist noted that these words are taken from an essay, “A Stranger in the Village,” by James Baldwin – he was the one who fought for civil rights all his life.
This essay deals with race relations, but also tells us what it is like to be a stranger in any situation.
