The little chimpanzee was born in Liberia and experienced a terrible fate from an early age. Parents and all relatives were treated badly in front of his eyes, he himself was shackled. The cute baby, unlike the others, was waiting for the fate of a living commodity – the merchants had already learned about the interest from wealthy customers.
Ruby is a baby chimpanzee but it does not detract from the horror of what is happening. They are very social animals and the suffering of an orphan in such a situation is difficult to overestimate.
Luckily for Ruby, the poachers fell out with the corrupt officials and they turned them in to the forest rangers. The living commodity turned into the inhabitants of the shelter, but little changed for Ruby, he was very small, very weak and helpless. But most importantly, lonely.
And then the Princess, one of the dogs in the shelter found him and took him under her care. Princess doesn’t just look after the newbies, she’s very knowledgeable about the psychology of sentient beings and is always ready to give everyone what they need.
For some, she became just an older comrade, and for others, an adoptive mother, like for Ruby. And it saved the little monkey. He now had a real friend and a “parent” who cared for him and he felt loved.
Experts know that chimpanzees have a hard time surviving PTSD, but Ruby has become a prime example of the opposite. Of course, this all was thanks to the Princess – when she was convinced that the baby was restored, physically and spiritually, she took him to other chimpanzees. And she left to deal with other orphans again, but of course their friendship still lasts.
