In any job there are negatives and positives, often not obvious. For Jason Hardesty, who works for the UPS Postal Service, it was the fact that he could be photographed with his customers’ dogs. In fact, it’s more than a hobby-it’s something he loves his job for!
It all started very trivial – one day a cute puppy came out to meet a client, asked Jason’s permission to pet him, took a picture and uploaded it to the web. The picture got a lot of likes, and then he decided to go ahead with it. And then the pandemic and quarantine hit, everyone started ordering home deliveries and he had more work to do. Jason usually leaves his packages on the porch so he doesn’t have contact with the people who live in the house, but the dogs who greet him are a different story!
He has no favorites, too many worthy candidates for it to be easy to choose. Jason goes to many addresses all the time and the dogs are already waiting for him and are happy. They all pose for the camera willingly and radiate positivity, which is so important in these times. Not a week goes by that another picture is not studded with a lot of likes and comments with envy – lucky for some!
Puppies are always fun, Jason reasoned. Although, there are some little things that go wrong, like one time a very tiny little dog jumped out to meet a package. He was frightened of strangers, and when Jason picked him up, the puppy peed on him in excitement. It was a shame, but okay. Now it’s fun to remember!
Encounters with dogs are such a bonus, Jason thinks. He’s happy to have in-demand jobs and the opportunity to travel around the country and meet different people. It’s what makes life happy.
