Numerous 1930s automobiles were found in a French quarry by a Belgian researcher. According to The Telegraph, the cars were concealed before World War II began.
Vincent Michel, a 56-year-old sports instructor, discovered the hidden “garage” in a central region of France. The Belgian, a hobbyist city researcher, expressed disbelief at the finding.
Michel remarked “I wondered how such a thing was even possible. It seemed like we had traveled 70 years in time.”
Early in the conflict, locals are thought to have hidden the autos to avoid being captured by German forces. Numerous other automobiles were added to the “garage” during the ensuing years, but they were eventually forgotten, and dozens of vintage cars are still hidden beneath today.
According to Vincent Michel, the quarry owner has removed a few cars and auctioned them off since the hiding location was found, but the majority of the cars are now in too delicate of state to be moved. It’s unclear what will happen to the rare autos after that.
